Moving
Information At this time, we
do not have a particular moving company that we endorse over another.
We recommend to to check out several companies before choosing one.
Once you have compiled a list of movers:
--Contact them for information and to compare their services.
--Inform them of the destination and timing of your move, and then set up
an in home visual estimate.
--Ask for a written estimate and clearly decipher if it is a binding or
non-binding agreement.
--Be physically present when the mover both loads and unloads your
belongings to check that everything has been packed and arrives in good
condition.
--If goods are missing or damaged, make sure you report the fact promptly
and in detail on the van's driver's copy of the inventory sheet before you
sign it.
--If you notice damage after unpacking, a claim must be filed in writing,
with a specific dollar amount stated, within nine months after delivery.
--Concerning insurance, do not assume that every moving company will
automatically insure your items for what they are worth. Generally, movers
assume limited liability insurance for the shipment on a per article
basis. Talk with your mover before hand about coverage and options.
