The Stories of
Success

Picking The People Who Inspire Us All

This is a story about heroes. To be a hero, one doesn't have to be brave, or strong, or quick. Our heroes are people who push a little further than everyone else, who act with more decision, who understand the nobility of working to achieve goals that are both economic and humanistic.

We have spent the last year looking for people whose contributions make the real estate and banking industries a little better. They're the people who bring excitement to the day by the brash actions they take, setting an entrepreneurial example that inspires us all. They're the bishops who set the agenda because they control the largest institutions. They're the committed ones, who see the wisdom in giving back time, effort and money to their industries and communities, because they understand that we all owe something for our successes.

But many of our heroes aren't always the biggest names at the biggest companies. Every one of us can look back on our careers to colleagues and acquaintances who have inspired us, simply by being excellent at what they do: The real estate brokers who overcome stereotypes by going the extra mile for their clients, the bankers who put their emphasis on customers' needs, trusting that by doing so their businesses' needs will more than be met, the mortgage brokers who see themselves not as salespeople, but as agents for people to achieve their dreams.

When high achievers make time to coach the rookies, they are heroes. When business owners take time away from their own enterprises to help guide their industries, they earn a mark of distinction. The Banker & Tradesman 125: Leaders Making A Difference is a celebration of such kinds of people, the ones who make a positive impression - large or small - on our industries, and in doing so, making us proud to be a part of the real estate and banking world.

But the working world, to be exciting, also has to be a little fun. As we wrote this year's compendium, we tried to not only capture a flavor of what makes these 125 so special, but in many cases we also tried to do so in a lighthearted manner. This year's award winners are all certainly deserving of recognition, but each is also a human being capable of failures as well as great successes. By keeping this tribute lighthearted, we hope to remind everyone that one of the best ways to keep everything in perspective is to keep a smile on one's face.

That said, we offer our congratulations to each of our honorees. And we also acknowledge that there are so many more out there who also reflect these values of perseverance, honor, compassion and achievement so many more whom we haven't showcased in this year's roll call.

There are more stories to tell, more heroes to show us that passion and commitment are the cornerstones of a rewarding life. This year, Banker & Tradesman is proud to showcase these 125 who have made our industry better in some way large or small. And we have already begun our search for next year's roster of the best in the Bay State.

Join us, then, in recognizing these heroes, in whose accomplishments we can all find inspiration.

"As president of New England's oldest Exclusive Buyer Agency Association, Simone has made it possible for thousands of homebuyers to gain an equal footing in the negotiation and purchase of real estate property in Massachusetts. Simone has converted Rustlewood Real Estate, a small traditional real estate office in the Canton area, to an exclusive buyer agency at a time when buyer agency was virtually untested in the market...."
